Who it is for

  • Newly licensed riders who still feel uneasy in traffic
  • Riders who want to find the limits of their bike, and of their own riding, in complete safety
  • Women who would rather spend the whole day in a group led by our instructor Anna

What to expect

The Vysoké Mýto race circuit, two hours east of Prague, is the one place where you can afford to get it wrong on a motorcycle. Nothing is coming the other way, there is no Armco and no drain covers, and nobody cuts across your line at the apex. Which is precisely why a single day here teaches you more than a whole season on the road.

How the day works

We split you into groups of four, so the instructor can keep every rider in sight. You have an Interphone in your helmet and ride behind him: he watches you in his mirrors and tells you, as it happens, where your eyes are, where you are braking and why the bike is running wide. No "you were doing that wrong" once you are already back in the pits.

This is not race training. The aim is to stop being afraid of the corner and to learn to brake before you have to. That is what you take back out onto the road.

Ride your own bike, or borrow ours

If you want to understand the bike you already own, bring it. If you want to try something different, we have a BMW R 1300 GS waiting. All our bikes are insured with a minimal excess, so you can stop worrying about what a drop would cost you and get on with riding.

For women

Anna Cardová is one of our instructors, not an exception to the rule. You can spend the entire day in the group she leads. And if you would rather ride with the lads, nobody minds.

For international riders

If you are looking for motorcycle training in the Czech Republic, this is the easiest place to start. Our instructors speak English, so the Interphone coaching works exactly the same for you as it does for everyone else. Vysoké Mýto is a short ride or drive from Prague, and the whole course runs in English on request.

Itinerary

  1. 9:00

    Welcome and groups

We meet in the pit garages and split into six groups of four riders by experience. If you have booked a bike, you collect it here.

  2. 9:30

    Theory that actually helps

Cornering lines, where to look, trail braking, body position. Ninety minutes with nothing padded out.

  3. 11:00

    First sessions on track

You follow the instructor, who talks to you through the helmet Interphone and corrects what you are doing while you are doing it.

  4. 13:00

    Lunch

A proper break at the circuit. Lunch is included in the price of the course.

  5. 14:00

We alternate track sessions with off-track drills such as emergency braking, slalom and slow riding. You get up to four hours on track plus another ninety minutes of exercises.

  6. 16:30

    Skills competition

It is not about speed but about precision. A clear measure of how far you have come in a day.

  7. 17:30

We go through what to work on next and where to take it from here.

FAQ

Do I need a driving licence?

For off-road training, for the closed race track and for experience rides you do not need a licence, because we ride away from public roads. You only need one where we go out on the road (road tours and expeditions).

Can I hire a motorcycle from you?

Yes. We have the largest BMW test fleet in the Czech Republic and bike hire is part of most courses and expeditions. All bikes are insured with a minimal excess. You are also welcome to come on your own machine.

Do you lend me a motorcycle, or do I have to bring my own?

It differs from service to service. Experience rides: we lend the bikes, you go through five of them during the ride. Off-road training: 5 500 CZK on your own bike, 8 800 CZK with our BMW. Weekend off-road training: 13 000 CZK on your own, 18 000 CZK with our BMW. Private race track training: you ride your own motorcycle, ours can be arranged in advance for an extra charge. Private off-road training: bike hire is included. Expeditions: the bike and all fuel are included.

How much does it cost?

The fixed prices: experience ride on the track and off road 8 899 CZK · off-road training 5 500 CZK on your own bike, 8 800 CZK with our BMW · weekend off-road training 13 000 CZK, or 18 000 CZK with our BMW · private race track training 3 hours for 10 000 CZK, 6 hours for 15 000 CZK · week-long camp 60 000 CZK · tailor-made expedition from 59 000 CZK · motorcycle hire in Spain 4 500 CZK a day. As a rough guide, 25 CZK is about 1 EUR. For the other services the price depends on the date and the option, so write to us and we will send it straight back.

What if it rains?

We ride in the rain. Riding in the wet is valuable experience and off road it is often the most fun. We only cancel in extreme weather, when riding would not be safe, and in that case we offer you an alternative date.

Where do you ride?

On tarmac we ride at the race track in Vysoké Mýto. Off road we use the motocross tracks at Mohelnice, Šiklův mlýn, Třebíz, Horní Újezd, Benátky u Litomyšle and Ostrov u Lanškrouna. Trial is ridden in Dolní Čermná, and the base for the week-long camps is Desná u Litomyšle. The exact venue is always shown with the published date.

How much does private training on the race track cost?

3 hours for 10 000 CZK (approx. 400 EUR), 6 hours for 15 000 CZK (approx. 600 EUR). The price covers an instructor just for you, hire of the track in Vysoké Mýto and the intercom. You ride your own motorcycle; we can lend you one of ours by prior arrangement, but it is charged separately.

How big are the groups?

On the race track we take a maximum of 24 riders split into 6 groups, so one instructor looks after 4 riders. Off-road training takes up to 30 people (6 groups of 5) and the week-long camp 15. On most expeditions 4 instructors look after a maximum of 8 riders, on Tuscany and Sardinia it is 10 riders and 5 instructors. On private training it is just you and your instructor.
