Frequently asked questions
Most of the questions below come from people who actually asked them. If yours is not here, call us. David, our lead instructor, picks up.
General
Before you sit on a bike for the first time.
What is the minimum age?
You can come to our training and experience rides without a driving licence. The youngest participant of our week-long camp was 11 years old. A licence follows the statutory age limits (A2 from 18, unrestricted A from 24, or from 20 after two years on A2).
Do I need a driving licence?
For off-road training, for the closed race track and for experience rides you do not need a licence, because we ride away from public roads. You only need one where we go out on the road (road tours and expeditions).
Do you lend me a motorcycle, or do I have to bring my own?
It differs from service to service. Experience rides: we lend the bikes, you go through five of them during the ride. Off-road training: 5 500 CZK on your own bike, 8 800 CZK with our BMW. Weekend off-road training: 13 000 CZK on your own, 18 000 CZK with our BMW. Private race track training: you ride your own motorcycle, ours can be arranged in advance for an extra charge. Private off-road training: bike hire is included. Expeditions: the bike and all fuel are included.
What if it rains?
We ride in the rain. Riding in the wet is valuable experience and off road it is often the most fun. We only cancel in extreme weather, when riding would not be safe, and in that case we offer you an alternative date.
Where do you ride?
On tarmac we ride at the race track in Vysoké Mýto. Off road we use the motocross tracks at Mohelnice, Šiklův mlýn, Třebíz, Horní Újezd, Benátky u Litomyšle and Ostrov u Lanškrouna. Trial is ridden in Dolní Čermná, and the base for the week-long camps is Desná u Litomyšle. The exact venue is always shown with the published date.
The date I want is fully booked. What now?
Sign up for date alerts. As soon as a place frees up or we open a new date, you will be the first to know. When demand is high we add extra dates. In the meantime, private training can be arranged outside the published dates.
None of the published dates suits me. What now?
Set up a date alert on the Dates page and we will email you as soon as we open a new one. If you do not want to wait, private training can be arranged on practically any day. Expedition dates are agreed individually, so write to us and tell us when suits you.
Do the instructors speak English?
Yes, our instructors speak English and we run courses and expeditions for international riders without any trouble.
How long does each of your programmes last?
An experience ride is one hour on the track, or two hours off road. The full-day courses run from 9:00 to 17:00 off road and from 9:00 to 17:30 on the track. Private training comes as 3, 6 or 9 hours off road and 3 or 6 hours on the track, the multi-day training lasts 3 or 4 days and the week-long camp 7 days (roughly 30 hours in the saddle). An expedition lasts 6 days (4 of them riding days), the Portuguese ones 7 days (5 riding days), and the Spanish ones can be ridden as 6 or 8 days.
I want a motorcycle licence. Can I get one with you?
We run the motorcycle driving school (categories A and A2) on our sister site zazitkovaautoskola.cz, as a week-long intensive camp that ends with the test. We are happy to advise which option suits you better.
Training and courses
On the track, off-road and in the trial section.
Can I manage it if I have never sat on a motorcycle?
Yes. Most people start with us from zero. We begin on a light bike on soft ground, where a fall costs nothing, and build up from there. No previous experience is needed.
Can I hire a motorcycle from you?
Yes. We have the largest BMW test fleet in the Czech Republic and bike hire is part of most courses and expeditions. All bikes are insured with a minimal excess. You are also welcome to come on your own machine.
Where is the week-long camp held?
Our base is Desná u Litomyšle. During the week we move to the motocross tracks nearby, to the trial course in Dolní Čermná and to the race track in Vysoké Mýto.
How much does private training on the race track cost?
3 hours for 10 000 CZK (approx. 400 EUR), 6 hours for 15 000 CZK (approx. 600 EUR). The price covers an instructor just for you, hire of the track in Vysoké Mýto and the intercom. You ride your own motorcycle; we can lend you one of ours by prior arrangement, but it is charged separately.
How big are the groups?
On the race track we take a maximum of 24 riders split into 6 groups, so one instructor looks after 4 riders. Off-road training takes up to 30 people (6 groups of 5) and the week-long camp 15. On most expeditions 4 instructors look after a maximum of 8 riders, on Tuscany and Sardinia it is 10 riders and 5 instructors. On private training it is just you and your instructor.
Can I hear the instructor while riding?
Yes. We ride with intercoms, so the instructor talks to you as you ride and corrects you straight away. The feedback comes exactly when you need it.
Do you run courses suitable for women?
Yes. Groups for women are led by instructor Anna Cardová and we adapt the pace and the content. We also offer a one-day taster for women for 3 000 CZK (approx. 120 EUR), which we deduct from the price of the week-long camp if you then sign up for it.
How do I get my licence through the week-long camp?
There are two steps: 1) book the camp (add it to the basket and complete the order), 2) then fill in the driving school application. You complete the driving school as part of the intensive week.
What do you ride during the week-long camp?
The programme is 2 days off road, 2 days on the road and off road, 1 day on the race track and 1 day of moto gymkhana, roughly 30 hours in the saddle in total. The camp takes a maximum of 15 participants.

Tours and expeditions
Motorcycle trips across Europe and beyond.

Hire of an insured motorcycle (you can swap bikes with the instructors along the way), all fuel, the instructors and airport transfers both ways. Most expeditions last 6 days (4 riding days), the Portuguese ones 7 days, and Spain can also be ridden as 8 days.
What is not included in the price of an expedition?
Flights, accommodation and meals. Budget for them on top; we are happy to arrange all of them, but they are paid separately. What you do get in the price is hire of an insured motorcycle, all fuel, the instructors and airport transfers both ways.
Do I have to find accommodation for the expedition myself?
No, we arrange it for you, it is simply paid separately. As a rough guide, reckon on about 80 EUR per person per night in a single room and 40 EUR in a shared one, and about 40 and 20 EUR on Spain and Portugal. We confirm the exact price when you book, as it varies with the destination and the date.
How demanding are the expeditions?
We build the routes around the level of the group. We ride at the pace of the slowest rider and nobody is pushed. Previous off-road experience is not needed; riders who have only ever been on tarmac manage perfectly well.
Can I manage an expedition without any off-road experience?
Yes, no experience is needed, we teach you everything. All you need is a motorcycle licence. We adapt the routes to your wishes and riding level. Our expeditions have been ridden by a man who had just passed his test, by a woman with zero off-road experience and by an 11-year-old beginner.

On most expeditions (Morocco, Italy, Spain, Spain and Portugal) 4 instructors look after a maximum of 8 riders. On Tuscany and Sardinia it is up to 10 riders and 5 instructors; the Portuguese expeditions (Escape to Euphoria and Escape to Freedom) run with groups of up to 6.
How much does accommodation on an expedition cost?
Accommodation is paid separately. In Spain, Portugal and on the tailor-made expedition a single room costs from 80 EUR per person per night and a shared (twin or multi-bed) room from 40 EUR. On the Spain and Portugal expedition it is from 40 EUR for a single and from 20 EUR for a multi-bed room. We confirm the exact price when you book.
How is luggage carried on an expedition?
You do not have to think about luggage. On the expeditions with a support vehicle (the Portuguese ones) the support van always takes your bags to the hotel, so after a full day in the saddle they are already waiting in your room.
Can I swap bikes during the expedition?
Yes. We lend you a motorcycle and along the way you can swap with the other riders and with the instructors, so you get to try several different machines in different conditions.
Where do we stay on the expeditions?
In Spain it is the village of Serradilla, about 270 km from Madrid; in Portugal the coastal town of Peniche. We collect you from the airport, take you all the way there, and bring you back again.

Can I bring someone who does not ride a motorcycle?

Corporate events
Team building on motorcycles.
How large a corporate event can you run?
We own up to 25 motorcycles, including electric and children's bikes, so we can handle large groups. We split people by experience: seasoned riders, beginners and children.
Where does a corporate event take place?
Our home track is the Cikov motocross circuit, but we will come almost anywhere in the Czech Republic and arrange transport for people and bikes alike. We take care of the track, instructors, protective kit, catering, a photographer, accommodation and the evening programme.
What if nobody on the team has ever ridden a motorcycle?
That is the most common case. Beginners get their own group, lighter bikes and an instructor who takes them through the basics step by step. We compete on skill, not on speed.
