What to expect
Not everybody wants to ride in dust. Escape to Euphoria is our road tour: no gravel, no rocks, just tarmac and corners above the ocean. Portugal's coastal roads are among the best in Europe. They twist along the cliffs, the surface is fresh and there is almost nobody on them.
The programme deliberately includes days with less riding. We stop in Porto, go down into a cellar and take a guided port tasting. The only rule is that the bikes stay where they are for the rest of the day. Another day ends in a spa, because after three days in the saddle your back will appreciate that far more than another hundred kilometres. And one morning goes on an Atlantic beach with a surfboard, whether or not you have ever stood on one.
Which is precisely why we recommend this expedition to couples and to pairs of riders. It is not a training camp. It is a holiday in which the motorcycle is the main ingredient, but not the only one.
There are never more than six riders, one instructor looks after four at most, and we hold a pace the slowest rider can enjoy. You can swap machines with the instructor or among yourselves. Our instructors speak English.
What is and is not in the price
The price covers bike hire and all fuel, the guide and instructor, the support vehicle (your bags are waiting at the hotel) and the whole side programme: the port cellar, the spa and the surf lesson.
Flights, accommodation and meals are not included. We are happy to arrange all of it. Accommodation runs to €80 per person per night in a single room, €40 in a shared one.
Itinerary
Arrival in Porto and the port cellar
You fly into Porto, we drive you to the hotel, and on that first evening we head straight for a famous port cellar.
Bike handover and the first stage
Breakfast around nine, luggage into the support vehicle, bikes handed over. Then a full day on the road with the instructors, with a stop for lunch and dinner together in the evening.
A ride and the side programme
A prepared route on superb Portuguese roads plus the side programme. If you prefer, stay at the spa instead and ride out on your own later.
The long stage
After breakfast we set off on a route of roughly 250 km, with a stop for lunch and dinner together at the end of the day.
Surfing the Atlantic
An optional morning ride, then a surf lesson in the Atlantic. It is run by our instructor Dušan, who also teaches at a surf school.
Over to Lisbon
The last stage, into Lisbon, where the expedition ends. Portuguese cooking along the way.
Flight home
After breakfast we take you to the airport. Photos and video from the trip land in a shared gallery.

What is included in the price of an expedition?
Hire of an insured motorcycle (you can swap bikes with the instructors along the way), all fuel, the instructors and airport transfers both ways. Flights, accommodation and meals are not included, but we are happy to arrange them for you. Most expeditions last 6 days (4 riding days), the Portuguese ones 7 days, and Spain can also be ridden as 8 days.
What is not included in the price of an expedition?
Flights, accommodation and meals. Budget for them on top; we are happy to arrange all of them, but they are paid separately. What you do get in the price is hire of an insured motorcycle, all fuel, the instructors and airport transfers both ways.
Do I have to find accommodation for the expedition myself?
No, we arrange it for you, it is simply paid separately. As a rough guide, reckon on about 80 EUR per person per night in a single room and 40 EUR in a shared one, and about 40 and 20 EUR on Spain and Portugal. We confirm the exact price when you book, as it varies with the destination and the date.
How demanding are the expeditions?
We build the routes around the level of the group. We ride at the pace of the slowest rider and nobody is pushed. Previous off-road experience is not needed; riders who have only ever been on tarmac manage perfectly well.
Can I manage an expedition without any off-road experience?
Yes, no experience is needed, we teach you everything. All you need is a motorcycle licence. We adapt the routes to your wishes and riding level. Our expeditions have been ridden by a man who had just passed his test, by a woman with zero off-road experience and by an 11-year-old beginner.
How long does an expedition last?
A standard expedition lasts 6 days, of which 4 are riding days. For Spain, and for Spain with Portugal, you can also choose the longer 8-day version (6 riding days). The Portuguese expeditions (Euphoria, Freedom) last 7 days, of which 5 are riding days.
Can I hire a motorcycle from you?
Yes. We have the largest BMW test fleet in the Czech Republic and bike hire is part of most courses and expeditions. All bikes are insured with a minimal excess. You are also welcome to come on your own machine.
Do you lend me a motorcycle, or do I have to bring my own?
It differs from service to service. Experience rides: we lend the bikes, you go through five of them during the ride. Off-road training: 5 500 CZK on your own bike, 8 800 CZK with our BMW. Weekend off-road training: 13 000 CZK on your own, 18 000 CZK with our BMW. Private race track training: you ride your own motorcycle, ours can be arranged in advance for an extra charge. Private off-road training: bike hire is included. Expeditions: the bike and all fuel are included.
